The dreaded Boko Haram sect is believed to be keeping the abducted girls from Chibok in Borno so as to use them as human shield as the search for them and plans to rescue them by the military intensifies. A highly placed source said, "Intelligence report confirmed that Boko Haram found it strategic to keep the girls to save their camps from bombardment by troops." A middle aged man identified as Benjamin Fakande, yesterday killed his neighbour, one Jacob Unumbe after he caught him having sex with his wife at Abinse town, in Guma local government area of Benue state. Fakande had reportedly suspected his wife was cheating on him and confronted her but she had denied the allegations and threatened to leave the marriage. So he decided to spy on her until he got proof she was having an affair with the deceased. No fewer than 10 heads of state and 900 delegates have registered to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Africa beginning in Abuja on May 7, an official said. The Media Coordinator of the forum, Dr Ogho Okiti, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, saying the affected persons had confirmed their participation. The forum, which has “Forging Inclusive Growth, Creating Jobs” as its theme, will last three days. Okiti said that the participants would come from 70 countries, including 30 in Africa. He said that the countries whose presidents had confirmed participation were Algeria, Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Mali and Nigeria. Others are Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania and Togo. Over 70 per cent of Automated Teller Machines owned and operated by banks in the country, which are currently running on the Windows XP operating system, are exposed to frauds as Microsoft has foreclosed the extension of the deadline for cyber security support for the banks. Microsoft had on April 8 stopped offering cyber security and technical support for the Windows XP, following a year’s notice. Banks in the country have been discussing with Microsoft Nigeria for a possible extension of the deadline. The Country Manager, Microsoft Nigeria, Mr. Kabelo Makwane, however, told our correspondent in an exclusive interview on Thursday that the American company would not grant any extension to banks in the country. President Goodluck Jonathan has cancelled his proposed Tuesday visit to Adamawa state for a Peoples Democratic Party’s Unity Rally. The President's visit was cancelled due to the mood in the country. It is believed that the lingering abduction saga in Borno State in which over 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped greatly influenced the decision to shelve the Adamawa PDP Unity Rally.
