President Jonathan Cancels PDP Adamawa Rally

President Goodluck Jonathan has cancelled his proposed Tuesday visit to Adamawa state for a Peoples Democratic Party’s Unity Rally. The President's visit was cancelled due to the mood in the country.

It is believed that the lingering abduction saga in Borno State in which over 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped greatly influenced the decision to shelve the Adamawa PDP Unity Rally.

Both the PDP and Presidential spokesperson are yet to issue a statement on the cancelled rally. However, an anonymous source within the Presidency said, "The President does not want to be seen acting as insensitive to the plight of the Chibok schoolgirls. We can’t afford a repeat of what happened in Kano after the Abuja blast. That was why the trip was shelved".

Also, an anonymous source in Adamawa State said the rally was cancelled because the party did not want some disgruntled elements to use the President's visit to launch a terrorist attack aimed at dragging the name of the president into the mud and justifying Governor Murtala Nyako's earlier attacks on the President.

Until an official statement is issued on the cancellation of the rally, it remains a rumor. Abiolainfo.blogspot.com will keep you updated.
