Image
A prominent socio-cultural club in Ekiti, the Ekiti Eleven, has elected Chief Kola Akosile as its new Chairman to replace Mr. Femi Ajiniran, after 10 years of leadership. The club has two former Ekiti State Governors: Segun Oni and Dr. Kayode Fayemi, now Minister of Mines and Steel Development, as well as notable politicians, including Senator Babfemi Ojudu and a former member of the House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele, as members. The four of them have already begun moves to contest for the 2018 Ekiti governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. The ousted chairman, Femi Ajiniran, recently issued a statement declaring the support of the group for Ojudu’s governorship ambition. A source said the new election was conducted to elect new officers so as to save the club from collapse owing to the ambition of its members. The election of...

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State in the 2015 general election, Mr Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI), during a visit to a Media House, spoke on his ambition ahead of the 2019 general election, what he would do for the people of Ogun State as governor, his plans for Ogun the state of affairs in the PDP, among other issues. Yes, I have contested twice and I am planning to do it again and the major reason is because, those factors that I considered back then are still there and God has still continued t...

How Makarfi-led PDP ignored Dokpesi’s anti-party activities

Image
Permutations by political pundits that the newly-registered Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (ADPA) had the backing of the Ahmed Makarfi-led People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was established last week when a prominent PDP and APDA chieftain, Raymond Dokpesi, was rewarded with the position of Deputy Chairman, Publicity Sub-Committee at the just concluded Special Non-Elective Convention of the party. Document obtained by BDSUNDAY revealed that while Dokpesi paraded himself as Interim Chairman, APDA Board of Trustees (BoT), he was still an active member of PDP, thereby making him a dual card-carrying member of both political parties. This is in contravention of Chapter Three, Part I of the PDP Constitution, 2012 (as amended), which dwells on Code of Conduct for members. Specifically, Section 10(6) of the Constitution provides that: “No member of the Party shall align with other parties or groups to undermine the Party or any of its elected governments”. In the ...

Image
In a new interview , the music producer who worked with the Ojuelegba singer years ago talked about moving on and how he is no longer bitter with the award-winning singer. But, has he really moved on? The drama started in 2014 when Samklef went ballistic on social media, dragging Wizkid for failing to acknowledge those who contributed to his success. In a later interview with Too Xclusive, the producer dished on how unfairly the singer treated him, saying Wizkid became successful and began to thumb his nose at him(Samklef). He went on to allege that Wizkid’s behaviour could be attributed to marijuana addiction. He said: “..this issue is Wizkid himself. He is smoking too much of Weed and Marijuana and it’s affecting him mentally. He should just calm down.” Samklef would later go on to clinch a deal with Akon and has since been waxing stronger in his productions. Now, he says he made peace with Wizkid, but he still shot some darts which we did not miss. Of W...

Buruji Kashamu, Ladi Adebutu’s War Deepens

Image
Are you one of those thinking that the  lingering  war between Senator Buruji Kashamu and Ladi Adebutu, a member of the House of Representatives, is over, following the recent ruling of the  Supreme Court on the chairmanship position of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP? If yes,  you may be utterly wrong. Spyglass gathered that since the apex court awarded full power of chairmanship of the party to Ahmed Markafi, the two political gladiators from Ogun State have  yet to sheath their swords  as they have reportedly  resorted to  name- calling,  which has further deepened the animosity between them. It all started  last year. But it has now degenerated into the PDP chapter in Ogun State being factionalised. The  Adebutu  faction is said to be more recognised by the party at the centre and more popular among  larger members of the PDP. It is said that he is banking on his father,  Chief Kessington Adebutu...
