16 Suspected Hoodlums In Police Net

As part of the continued efforts of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) to rid every part of Lagos State, western Nigeria, of criminals, especially those who hide in the dark to perpetuate heinous crimes in the state, 16 suspects were arrested around Ijora area of the state last weekend.

The suspects were arrested at different hideouts around Ijora and are suspected to have in the past been working in cahoots with armed robbers.

The raid on the Ijora hideouts, is a continuation of the onslaught against criminals in all parts of the state by the state government in its bid to create a secure environment for prospective investors and to secure life and properties of residents.

The arrested suspects include: Uguru Michael, Nwibo Solomon, Adamu Muhammed, Lawal Ibrahim, Dairu Muhammed, Igboke Ndoka, and Gambo Garuba.

Others are Orife Phillips, Wasiu Bojuola, Azeez Adeboye, Saeed Ojuola, Abdullai Usman, Okudete Nwaokwu, Ezekiel Nwayim, Chibozie Nworu and Nwegone Mathew.

The Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, described the arrest of the suspects as a commitment to the desire of the state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode to make Lagos safe for everybody.

“We arrested sixteen suspects during a raid on suspected hideouts of hoodlums in the Ijora neighbourhood and they were properly scrutinized,” Disu said.

He also stated that the raid on Ijora was sequel to the complaints about the activities of armed robbers who have continued to terrorize law abiding residents of the area.

“We received complaints from residents and business owners and officers from the RRS were deployed to comb the area and the result was the arrest of the sixteen people,” Disu said.

He added that ” the exercise will be a continuous one. The state government is determined to rid the state of criminals and create an environment for peaceful co-existence among residents and business owners.

“The raid will not be limited to Ijora we have had it in Oshodi. We are still going to ensure that every part of Lagos is covered in the renewed fight against criminals in Lagos. Criminals have no hiding place here.”
