Abia oil worker’s kidnappers demand N2m

The kidnappers of  Mr. Anthony Abomah, a staff of an Abia State-based oil servicing company, Saipem Nig. Ltd., have demanded N2 million ransom for his release, according to company source.

Abomah was abducted  in the early hours of Tuesday by gunmen on his way to his office located at the oil-rich Owaza Community in Ukwa West Local Government Area of the state.

He is the Company Head, Document Control Centre, and the first staff of the company to be kidnapped.

The Public Relations Officer of the company, Mr.  Fubara Sam Banigo, who confirmed the incident, said the yet-to-be identified kidnappers had made contacts with the victim’s family, demanding immediate payment of the ransom.

Banigo expressed shock at the kidnap incident, which, he said, was the first to be experienced by the company since it commenced operations in the community.

He said the development was very strange as the area had enjoyed peace for years,  after the crushing of kidnappers that held the state hostage for the better part of 2009 and 2010.
