Pope approves sex abuse tribunal for bishops

Pope Francis has approved a recommendation from his newly-created panel on clerical sex abuse to create a tribunal with powers to judge bishops who cover up such crimes.

The reform involves the creation of a new crime of “abuse of episcopal office” in canon law.
