Mr Adesina had said on Monday when he made an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, during which he shared his thoughts and feelings about meeting his boss for the first time in more than three months. “I do not know who is paying (for his treatment), but as a President, he has a right to be treated by the country,” he said when asked who was footing the President’s bill. He said the official, who he did not name, went to the President with some documents but he (Buhari) turned the official back. He said Buhari made it clear to the official that the man (Osinbajo) that was in charge of the country was in  Abuja . “It is not true that ministers are going to the United Kingdom and are reporting to the President. I am aware that a senior official had gone to President Buhari

It’s Wrong To Think Peter Obi Made Me Governor – Obiano

Image
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has said the perception that his predecessor , Mr Peter Obi, made him governor is wrong. He said this when he appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, shortly after he emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance. Asked how he expects to succeed in his reelection bid having reportedly fallen out with some of those who were key to his emergence as governor, including Peter Obi, he said it was up to God and not one man. “First, it is God that makes the king. Again, let me also correct this impression; Peter (Obi), the former Governor, cannot on his own make me the governor if the former chairman of the party or the whole party did not agree. So, it is a wrong perception to think that one person can come and make you a candidate,” he said. He, however, acknowledged that the former governor played a role in getting him elected.

Multiple sources in the party told Vanguard, yesterday, that Atiku was, however, not the only former PDP person being sought. Image
The arrested General Overseer of the City of Liberation and Comfort Ministry, Bishop Ginika has confessd he defrauded his church members of N186m not the over N500m that was claimed by the Enugu State Police Command. His ministry, located on Enugu-Port Harcourt highway, became a beehive of activities last year as people from various walks of life, especially miracle seekers, trooped to the church. But the place became a shadow of itself after it was discovered that the NGO he floated to lure members into investing on the guise of reaping “bountiful dividends” was aimed at defrauding them. When he was caught in his tracks, the Unuaku Uli self-acclaimed preacher ran away, abandoning his church and members. Barcelona vs Real Madrid: Why we lost

Image
Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde, has admitted his side were not as clinical as Real Madrid, in their 3-1 defeat in the Spanish Super Cup first leg on Sunday. Lionel Messi had equalized for Barca after Gerard Pique’s own goal opened the scoring at Camp Nou, but late goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, who was also sent off, and Marco Asensio handed Madrid the advantage ahead of Wednesday’s second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu. Valverde, who replaced Luis Enrique in May, feels the result slightly flattered Zinedine Zidane’ side. “I don’t feel we were as far away as the scoreline indicates,” he said in his post-match news conference. “[Madrid] were strong in midfield, which made it tough for us to play through the middle. They’re a side that run a lot and they use the space well. “They scored three, but it was a game in which we did well and we had chances. They’ve caught us out with a counter-attack at 1-1 [to make it 2-1] and scored a great goal – that second goal did a bit of damage

Jose Mourinho sends surprising message to Chelsea fans about Man United signing

Image
Jose Mourinho has admitted that he was surprised to have been able to sign Nemanja Matic for Manchester United this summer. The Red Devils completed a deal to bring the Serbia international to Old Trafford this summer after Chelsea agreed to sell the 29-year-old to their direct Premier League title rival. The move came as something of a surprise to many, as Matic was a key player in helping Chelsea win the Premier League title last season. The Serbian midfielder, however, was thought to be keen on a move to Manchester United himself and to link up with his former manager Mourinho. And the Portuguese coach has now lifted the lid on how Matic called him to tell him that a move to Manchester United was on the cards this summer. Mourinho is quoted as saying by the  Daily Mirror : “I was not thinking of signing Matic because I never go for players who I think are an impossible mission to sign. I felt that there would be no chance. “So when I got the call that Matic wants to play for m

So it seems to me there is no internal democracy in APC government in Kuje so I decided to leave with some of my supporters,” he said.  The Kuje PDP central ward chairman, Alhaji Bawasa, while receiving the decampees, assured them that the party would always carry them along in its activities. Meanwhile, the APC chairman in

Why Sheriff, Dickson, Ayade, Ojougboh, others shun PDP convention

Image
Findings have shown the reasons why the Supreme Court sacked former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and few others chieftains of the party shunned the special non-elective convention of the party held at the Eagle Square in Abuja, on Saturday. Also conspicuously absent at the convention, which was attended by over 3000 delegates, chieftains and leaders of the party, were the Governors of Bayelsa State, Chief Seriake Dickson, his Cross River state counterpart, Prof Ben Ayade, Senator representing Ogun East senatorial district in the National Assembly, Buruji Kashamu, deputy to Sheriff and former member of the House of Representatives, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh among others. PDP: Convention as carnival, launching pad

Image
Since 2015 when it lost power at the centre, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has once again displayed what the party is known for - to organize a carnival-like convention to showcase its splendor, grandure, power and beauty that has endeared it to the heart of the people. The drumming, the dancing, the parade and the speeches made by dignitaries were carnival-like displays geared towards achieving one aim, to tell the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) that the PDP is alive, back and kicking like the proverbial cat with nine lives. According to political watchers, it was also an avenue to tell the APC that all the efforts to destroy the party in the past few months did not succeed. Not only has the party succeeded in making a mark, but, from the unprecedented crowd that greeted the party non elective convention held on Saturday, the 12th of August, it exposed the failure of the ruling All progressive Congress (APC) to meet the yearning and the demands of the people after w

Osinbajo not in charge of Nigeria – PDP

Image
The leading opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, has stated that Acting President Yemi Osinbajo is not in charge of the country. According to the PDP, actions taken by the Acting President were clear indications that power was not handed over to him contrary to the claim by the Presidency that ailing President Muhammadu Buhari transferred power to him (Osinbajo) before leaving Nigeria for London on a medical trip more than 90 days ago. Spokesperson for the party, Dayo Adeyeye, while speaking with newsmen on Sunday, wondered why the Acting President had refused to assign portfolios to the two ministers that were sworn in more than two weeks ago. Adeyeye, who was a former minister of state for works, observed that the action of the Acting President indicated that he was just a figurehead. He said, “The Acting President is not in charge of the country. He is not in charge of anything. This is why nothing is moving forward. “How do you explain a situation where two of the m
