Leading Nollywood stars Monalisa Chinda, Ini Edo, Desmond Elliot and Uche Jombo, yesterday, signed mouth-watering endorsement deals as new ambassadors of the New Nation project at the Dukwe headquarters in Port Harcourt.

Founded and sponsored by the Dukwe global organization, the Kill The Killer campaign is aimed at spearheading strategic campaigns against diabetes and high blood in the society.

Kano Assembly approves appointment of 13 commissioners

The Kano State House of Assembly on Tuesday cleared the 13 nominees for appointment as commissioners and members of the state executive council. NAN reports that the list of the nominees was sent to the House for screening by Governor Abdulllahi Ganduje last week. The House granted approval to the governor to appoint 20 special advisers, as well as the appointment of Alhaji Sani Gabasawa as Director General, Kano state Pension Trust Funds. The 13 nominees had earlier appeared in the chamber of the House, where they answers questions by the legislators. The nominees cleared by the House include outgoing NUJ President, Malam Mohammed Garba and ALGON Chairman, Alhaji Murtala Garo. Others are Alhaji Nasiru Gawuna, Alhaji Usman Riruwai, Dr Faruk Ibrahim, Dr Ali Makoda and Alhaji Haruna Lambu. Unpaid salaries: Osun pensioners protest, lament members’ deaths

Retired workers under the aegis of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners in Osun State on Wednesday staged a public protest over the non payment of their pensions for the past seven months. The Chairman of NUP in the state, Dr. J.A. Olunlade, in the speech he circulated to journalists lamented the death of many of his colleagues, who he said died because  of lack of money to buy food and drugs. The pensioners stormed the House of Assembly in their hundreds to register their displeasure about the issue of their pensions.
