Rochas Commends Abia State Governor Orji For Reinstating Sacked Imo Indigenes

Imo State governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has expressed delight over the recall of 2,700 of the 4,000 of the state’s indigenes earlier disengaged by his Abia State counterpart, Theodore Orji. The governor’s position was made known through a release signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo. “The government of Imo State has received with delight the report that the Governor of Abia state, Chief Theodore Orji has, in his wisdom, reinstated the non-indigenes of the state, who were sacked from the state’s civil service some time ago,”
Okorocha stated. Commending his Abia State counterpart for the gesture, Okorocha said Orji appreciated the concern of most Nigerians, especially the Igbos, over the sacking of the non-indigenes from the state’s civil service, with all those affected coming from the other states in the South-East. “Those who spoke against the action when it was taken, didn’t do so out of malice or hatred, but out of the concern that such initiative could give others
the wrong impression about the unity of Ndigbo and their ability to love themselves,” he said. The governor expressed joy that Governor Orji had realized the implications of his action, both in the short and long run, and had acted in the spirit of conviviality. Okorocha recalled that his comment then on the incident “was innocent and never meant to impugn the Abia governor because two of them, under normal scenario, should be working very closely, not minding their political differences.” He said it was important to appeal to the Abia State governor to complete the good works he had begun by reinstating the remaining ones. “He has acted well by reinstating 2,700 out of the total of 4000, but his action would be speaking louder to the glory of God, if he reinstates all the remaining ones.
