Don't dissolve Kogi APC leadership, Melaye, others advise NWC

The wide speculations that the dissolution of the Kogi State All Progressives Congress leadership will top the agenda in today’s meeting of the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC), the leadership of the party in the state stormed the secretariat in Abuja yesterday with a warning that the NWC must not tamper with the party structure in Kogi.

Kogi State APC has been in crisis, since the emergence of Governor Yahaya Bello with the only Senator from the APC in the state, Dino Melaye of Kogi West district facing a recall process, which he has, however, challenged at the High Court.

The Governor, it was gathered, has intensified efforts to wrest the party’s structure from the Dino Melaye-led group and there are allegations that the NWC will hand over the party’s structure to him at the end of their meeting today.

The group, which was led by Senator Alex Kadiri, met with the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun for several hours yesterday, at the end of which they secured his assurance that NWC meeting will discuss the structure of the APC in Kogi State.

Speaking to the media after the meeting with the national Chairman, Sen Alex Kadiri, who led other top members of the APC in the state, including Senators Ohiare, Abdul Abubakar and Dino Melaye stated that the meeting resolved “that the national working committee will not tamper with the APC in Kogi State. That is very important to us. We got an affirmation from the Chairman that that is not on their agenda for their (NWC) meetingtomorrow. The executive of the APC at all levels in Kogi State will not be dissolved because there is a procedure for the dissolution of the party executives at the State level even at the national level.

“We also disabused our minds vis-a-vis the mind of the national chairman over the fact that people have accused some persons of moving funds from Kogi to Abuja. We do not have facts to give you anything on this. And the chairman has assured us that his hands are clean on this matter. We believe him.
