Chelsea want to make proven 27-year-old their fifth signing - report

Chelsea want to sign Danny Rose from Tottenham in a £40m deal, according to reports in the British media.

The Sun is reporting that the west London side are planning a raid on their local rivals as Antonio Conte looks for Chelsea to secure their fifth signing of the summer transfer window.

The same report states that Chelsea have turned to Rose after conceding that it will be very difficult for them to secure a deal to sign full-back Alex Sandro from Juventus.

The story says that Conte has made strengthening at full-back a priority this summer and has singled out Rose, 27, as Chelsea’s next top target.

The article also reports that former Chelsea star and current Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand is a backup option.

Chelsea have signed four players so far this summer, with the Blues completing deals to land Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata.

However, Conte is still thought to be keen on bringing a number of new players to Stamford Bridge this summer as Chelsea prepare for their Premier League title defence, and a return to the Champions League.

Chelsea kick off their Premier League season with a home clash against Burnley on Saturday afternoon at Stamford Bridge.
