PDP screens Oduah, Emeka, 5 others for Anambra guber

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday, screened seven aspirants who obtained nomination forms to fly the party’s ticket for the November 18 Anambra State governorship election. Those screened were senator representing Anambra North in the Senate, Senator Stella Odua, a member representing Onitsha North and South in the House of Representatives, Hon Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu, a former Secretary to State Government (SSG), Mr. Oseloka Obaze, former Minister of Transport, Prince John Okechukwu Emeka, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, Dr. Patrick Ubah and Akolisa. PDP has zoned its governorship ticket to Anambra North where the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Governor Willie Obiano comes from.

The Screening Committee headed by Alhaji Waziri which conducted the screening exercise drilled the aspirants on their activities and commitment to the party both at the state and the national levels. PDP in Anambra State has been factionalised for a long time, which was attributed to the loss of the state by the party since 2003.

Alhaji Waziri who said would brief the press today on the screening exercise assured that the committee would be free and fair to all the aspirants. PDP has fixed August 19 for the primary to choose its candidate for the November election.
